Newest question on topside of the page. Q: Is there a pasta party or something like it before the start on Friday? Do we get some food after the race? 1. You are self supporting before and during the race. You can buy some meals at the racebase or in the restaurants of Schierke. 2. After the race we offer you (participants) a free lunch. Does the organization provide water? Yes. We will provide water at the transition area's. Yes. These points will automatically be counted as TA´s in our ranking programm. No. As long as it is closed and has two handlebars to be carried. The weight is a maximum of 10 kg. Only the CHALLENGER team can use one gearbag. Q: Is it possible to use a 28" trekkingbike instead of a 26" mountainbike? Yes. It's an ongoing discussion in the AR-world but you might have advantages as well as disadvantages. Yes. Q: Will there be information for supporters in able to follow the race on location? Yes, we will we will sell extra racemaps for supporters or for teams whou would like to keep a brand new map as an excellent souvenir. Q: Will I have to carry all the gear all the time? A: yes. Only CHALLENGER teams will find their gearbag at TA2. It may contain food and drinks. Climbing gear will be provided by the organization. Q: how is the race set up? A: there will be several sections and various disciplines. At the transition area's you will leave your bike(s) from which you will do other tasks and sections i.g. running/trekking or run-bike (orienteering section with one bicycle per team). Q: In case of orienteering - will it be score or a route from start to finish via checkpoints in a given order as 1-2-3-4....? A: Most checkpoints will be in the normal given order 1,2 3 etc unless told so. Q: Will all sections be based on orienteering;? A: Yes, it's all orienteering. Most moutainbike sections will be in a scale 1:50.000. And there may be some different kinds of maps (1:25.000, Google Maps, Orienteering maps etc). You will not have to put the CP's on the map by coordinates. You must be able to make bearings with your compass and calculate distances using the map. Q: Do you use sport ident? (electronic checkpoint card) A: in 2013 edition we hope to. Q: Do you have a mass start? A: yes, we will start with a short orientation to get you warmed up and scatter the teams. AMI website or just Google for a few hours. Q: Will newly formed teams be allowed to do the long course? A: Yes, we have had unexperienced teams in the past few years and all had a great time. There will be two ranking possibilities (see example in documents rules). A PRO-course and a Challenger-course, both 30 hours. They're both challenging. The CHALLENGER teams will be able to sleep max 6 and min 4 hours. Q: In order to form a team, I need to know if there might be any tasks which could be to difficult or dangerous for some prospect team mates, e.g.: climbing above a certain level. A: we will keep all risks to a minimum and have no to difficult special tasks also to avoid traffic jams and of course risks. There will probably be something like an abseil or river crossing over parallel ropes, but not a high level one and if there is any climbing it we’ll be easy. We may also add archery or (laser)shooting as a special task. Q: Is it a tough race? A: this depends on your physical and metal condition, and of the speed of the pace you set. But you can also take your time and just enjoy the sports and scenery. |
